Marshall County is a beautiful county located right off Interstate 65 in the rolling hills of middle Tennessee. There are many factors that contribute to quality of life in Marshall County such as easily accessible location, scenic vistas, recreational opportunities, community involvement and visitor offerings.

Marshall County consists of four larger communities: Chapel Hill, Cornersville, Lewisburg and Petersburg. There are also numerous smaller communities located throughout the county such as: Belfast, Delina, Graball, Ostella, Mooresville, Farmington, Talley, Smyrna, Milltown, Livley and Holt's Corner.

Marshall County is also home of the Henry Horton State Park, Duck River and the Annual Goats, Music and More Festival.

The population of Marshall County is approximately 27,000 people.

February 20, 1836 that the Tennessee Legislature acted upon a petition from citizens of Bedford, Lincoln, Giles and Maury counties on forming a new county because of the distance. The new county took the name Marshall after the noted American jurist, John Marshall. Though communities were already established at Belfast, Chapel Hill, Farmington, and Cornersville, the town of Lewisburg was specifically formed to be the county seat.

The current courthouse is the third one and was built in 1929 with renovations in 1974 and in 1998.
